Dr. Robert Norris has been the long time Team Physician with the Spartan hockey program. After assisting the program for three years (2000-03), he officially took over the reigns as Head Team Physician for Spartan hockey in the 2003-04 campaign. A Traverse City native, Dr. Norris is boarded in family practice and primary care sports medicine. He began his training at Alma College, where he double majored in biology and chemistry in addition to being a four-year varsity letter winner in basketball.

He completed medical school at MSU’s College of Human Medicine in 1997, continuing his training with MSU for residency at Sparrow hospital in Lansing. Dr. Norris is a graduate of MSU’s Fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine, and can be found during the daytime hours serving the MSU and greater Lansing communities by working for MSU Sports Medicine in the Eyde Building. He is also the Team Physician for MSU Volleyball, MSU Baseball, and the Lansing Lugnuts. Dr. Norris acts as the Primary Care coordinator for Jenison-based athletics.
