Quarterly Student Report
Summer, 2000

June 15, 2000

As another semester at MSUCOM winds down, we look back at the whopping accomplishments made thus far: the cardiology course had quite a few academic casualties along the way, but the second-year students pushed ahead into the stretch, both looking boards in the eye and taking the respiratory course in stride. The first year students have successfully manoeuvered through another academic onslaught-- seething with neuroanatomy, microbiology, histology, pathology, and clinical skills. Yet they press onward toward the treasured DO degree.Despite the rigors of academia, the spring was seasoned with merriment andprosperity. Students vacationed over break around the world--Key West, New Orleans, Europe, Colorado, California, New York, Cuba, and Mexico to name a few destinations.Fee Follies was held on April 2. From within The Dollar, the pungent odor of med-school humor and inside jokes choked the bartenders, while the audience howled with approval. "Hats Off" to Vegas Night (April 15) for loading our organization's pockets with money, and for the record-breaking donation it raised for Habitat for Humanity.Students attended conferences for the UAAO, ACOFP, SOSA, SOMA, AAO, and IHP. Attending these conferences did much to further our sense of osteopathic unity and community. It's not over yet though. We still have finals, boards, clerkship and infinity before us. But from underneath this weight of the future lies the foundation that we stand upon -- the unity of MSUCOM. This unity is the most notable and valuable thing to arise from a chaotic semester. Wherever you go, you find it written in the faces of the students, expressed in the caring words of the faculty, and in the air around MSUCOM.Submitted by: Benjamin A.
