KUDOS FOR STUFF-A-BUS
MSUCOM's Sigma Sigma Phi Honor Society won a "Business Partnership Award" from
the Lansing Jaycees at their annual banquet Jan. 19 for their Stuff-a-Bus
program.

MSUCOM students volunteered to stand outside in freezing
temperatures asking shoppers for their help in Sigma Sigma Phi's "Stuff-a-bus"
campaign. Shoppers were asked to help support five families with a total
of 20 children this holiday season through purchasing items the families
needed as well as making donations to cover the costs of the families'
home heating needs this winter.
"It was cold - really really cold - but it
was amazing to see the generosity of people," said MSUCOM student Lindsay
Rubin. "One lady took the list we had for one family and came back later
with a cart filled with one of everything on the list. I was in awe of
what she did for that family."
"When I heard about this cause, I was really
drawn to it," said MSUCOM student Jim Snyder. "This drive focused
on families right here in Lansing that need help. It means a lot to me to
help people in need who are in our midst - and there are a lot of people struggling
this year."
"By 5:30 p.m., we had the bus completely filled
with gifts for the families," said Rachel Rosenbaum who helped coordinate
the event. "We collected so much money to help these families with their
heating costs this year, that we had enough left over to purchase 190 blankets
for the Lansing City Rescue Mission. The shoppers were very generous in their
giving. It was an amazing thing to see."
