A Dash for Cash:
"Monster" Fundraising at MSUCOM

October 29, 2000

This fall, two days before Halloween, the monsters were already out in broad daylight. They had come to take part in the MSUCOM Student Osteopathic Medical Association's "Monster Dash," a 5K charity race. With proceeds going to one of MSUCOM's favorite causes, Special Olympics Area 9, 200 registered entrants showed up to enjoy a balmy fall Sunday, run a race, and raise money for a good cause. Some brought their Halloween costumes and a few more brought their endurance.

The race begins

Kari Chander of Okemos was the overall Women's winner with a time of 19:56.9, and Sue Sperry of Mason came in second with a time of 20:23.9. Brian Donohue of Charlotte was the overall Men's winner with a time of 15:44.1, with Steve Arch of Okemos coming in second with a time of 15:56.0.
