Physicians for Human Rights Fundraiser

When: December 5, 2006, 7-9 p.m.

Where: Creole Art Gallery in Lansing

The Michigan State University chapter of Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) is holding its 3rd Annual "Human Art for Human Rights" Art Show on Tuesday, December 5.  This silent auction will take place from 7-9pm in Old Lansing's Creole Art Gallery, and will feature art created and donated by medical students of MSU.  Proceeds from the event will go towards Community Voices for Homeless Healthcare Services, an affiliate of the Ingham County Health Department that provides care for Lansing's homeless population.  Admission is free to all though there is a suggested donation of $10 for students and $20 for community members.

PHR is a Nobel-prize winning organization that aims to promote health by protecting human rights.  Internationally, the group has fought against issues of torture, political killings, use of landmines, ethnic and racial discrimination, and has been working towards universal access to health care.  Locally, the MSU chapter works to educate the community on human rights violations happening globally to better understand the role we all play in bringing about social justice.  Please join them on Dec. 5 to support an effort to bring healthcare to Lansing's homeless.
