* The 2007 MOCF Ball, “Puttin’ on the Glitz” was held on Saturday, February 24, at the Ritz-Carlton, Dearborn.  Approximately 600 guests attended the event, which raised more than $165,000 in net proceeds for the MOCF Endowment.  Robert Gordon, DO, MSUCOM Class of 1982 and Clinical Assistant Professor of Family and Community Medicine, was the lucky winner of the two-year lease on the 2007 Lexus SC430 hardtop convertible.  MSUCOM thanks the many sponsors and supporters of the event, and acknowledges the generous support of our corporate sponsors:

* The Visiting Faculty Lecture Series, “Slavery to Freedom: An American Odyssey” featured The Honorable Dennis Archer, Rev. Charles Adams, Rev. Joseph Lowery, and Mr. Taylor Branch.  The programs, held each Thursday in February, have become increasingly popular on campus and in the greater Lansing community, attracting at least 300 attendees each week.  Special thanks to William G. Anderson, DO, for his continued assistance in producing these programs, and to the Office of Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives, the Assistant Provost and Assistant Vice President for Academic Human Resources, the Office of the Provost, and the Office of the President for their grant support of this series.  We also thank our sponsors:

* On February 14, more than 20 MSUCOM students provided health screens for legislators at the State Capitol.  Margaret Aguwa, DO and Frank Komara, DO provided faculty supervision.

* On February 18-25, the Department of Neurology and Ophthalmology held “Topics in the Tropics” in the Dominican Republic, a CME program chaired by Jayne Martin, DO.  More than 50 alumni, faculty, and friends attended and enjoyed education and the beauty of the Dominican.
