* MSUCOM is pleased to announce the 2007 recipients of the Walter F. Patenge Medal of Public Service, the highest honor awarded by the college.  Congratulations to William C. Cunningham, DO, MHA, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Metro Health Hospital; John K. Everett, DO, MSUCOM Class of 1987 and Past-President of the Michigan Osteopathic Association; David L. Porteous, JD, Chairperson Emeritus of the MSU Board of Trustees; and Earl J. Reisdorff, MD, Director of Medical Education, Ingham Regional Medical Center.  The Patenge Medal will be bestowed upon these distinguished individuals on April 25, 2007.

* The Tri-County Osteopathic Association’s presidential inauguration was held on January 20 at the Roostertail in Detroit.  MSUCOM is proud of its three alumni who were honored as the incoming presidents of their component society.  Macomb County – Carl M. Pesta, Jr., DO, Class of 1996; Oakland County – Gary L. Willyerd, DO, Class of 1978; and Wayne County – John W. Sealey, DO, Class of 1976.

* MSUCOM is pleased to recognize the following organizations that have added their name to the list of sponsors for the 2007 MOCF Ball.  Bronze Sponsor:  Howard S. Rossman, DO – Michigan Institute for Neurological Disorders - Multiple Sclerosis Center; Patron Sponsors: Ingham Osteopathic Association, Michigan Gastroenterology Institute, Mid-Michigan MRI.  To date, 54 organizations have joined the event as sponsors.

* The position of Senior Associate Dean for MSUCOM has been approved for posting.  The call for applications will appear in the MOA TRIAD, Chronicle Web, JNMA, JAOA, AMOPS, Military Medicine, D.O., Academic Medicine, and on the MSU Website (www.msu.edu).  The deadline for applications is April 16, 2007.  For further information, please contact 517-355-9616.

* Win a two-year lease on a Lexus SC430 hardtop convertible, with all taxes paid as part of the prize for the winning ticket!  Tickets are now available at http://www.com.msu.edu/mocf or by phoning 517-355-9616.  Tickets are $100 each, with the drawing being held at the MOCF Ball on February 24, 2007, and all proceeds support the MOCF Endowment at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

* On January 15, COM and CHM students performed health screens at the Islamic Center in East Lansing as part of MSUCOM’s Diversity Education Program.

* MSUCOM personnel attended the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians meeting in Bellaire, Michigan, and greeted guests at the college exhibit.  The college also hosted a reception that was attended by over 150 alumni and their families.
