* David Kaufman, D.O., chairperson and professor, Department of Neurology and Ophthalmology, was elected to the 2005-2006 Best Doctors in America database.

* Joel Bez, D.O., MSUCOM Class of 1991 and vlinical sssistant professor of osteopathic surgical specialties, was elected to the Executive Committee of the AOA Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists.

* J. Michael Wieting, D.O., professor of physical =medicine and rehabilitation, has been appointed as the Chair of the Standards Review Committee of the AOA Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists for 2006-2007.  This committee has responsibility for ensuring the validity and legal defensibility of all AOA board certifying examinations.

* MSUCOM is pleased to recognize the following organizations that have added their name to the list of sponsors for the 2007 MOCF Ball.  Silver Sponsor: National City Bank; Bronze Sponsor: The Rossman Group; Patron Sponsor: Accident Fund.  To date, 47 organizations have joined the event as sponsors.

* On November 2, Dean Strampel and staff from the Offices of Development and External Programs, hosted a dinner for alumni and friends from the Bay City, Midland, and Saginaw areas.  Dean Strampel provided guests with an update of college activities.

* Mark Notman, Ph.D., executive director of administrative services and chief technical officer, joined state and national healthcare leaders as an invited moderator for a panel on Information Technology and its Role in Improving Health Care, at the State of Our Health: Measuring Quality and Achieving Success, a Michigan Leadership Forum on Healthcare Quality Measurement and Improvement, held November 30 in Detroit.

* Win a two-year lease on a Lexus SC430 hardtop convertible, with all taxes paid as part of the prize for the winning ticket!  Tickets are now available at http://www.com.msu.edu/mocf or by phoning 517-355-9616.  Tickets are $100 each, with all proceeds supporting the MOCF Endowment at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

* The Undergraduate American Academy of Osteopathy (UAAO) auction was held on November 7.  Faculty, staff, and students enjoyed an evening of bidding on various items, with Dean William Strampel, DO, serving as the auctioneer.

* On November 14, more than 40 MSUCOM students administered flu shots to Michigan legislators at the state capitol.  College administrators, faculty, SCS residents, and alumni provided supervision.

* Sign up now for the MOCF Ball on-line!  Guests may purchase tickets, sponsor student tickets, place an advertisement or congratulatory/memorial note, support the event with a sponsorship, or purchase a ticket for the Lexus raffle!  Go to http://www.com.msu.edu/mocf to show your support for MSUCOM and the MOCF Ball.  All event proceeds support the MOCF Endowment at Michigan State University, the fund that originally started the college!
