HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM MSUCOM!!
- Myron Magen, D.O., Dean and Professor Emeritus, was recognized with an
Honorary Degree from Michigan State University on December 10. The degree
was bestowed at the university’s Advanced Degree Ceremony.
- The Council on Continuing Medical Education awarded the MSUCOM CME office
three-year accreditation as a Category I CME sponsor. MSUCOM passed the document
survey review with 100 points. In accordance with AOA Accreditation Requirements
for CME Category I CME sponsors, those with 90 points or more receive the
three-year accreditation award.
- Alexander Gottschalk, M.D., Professor of Radiology, received the 2004
Gold Medal, radiology’s highest honor, from the Radiological Society
of North America at the society’s annual meeting in Chicago.
- Several MSUCOM faculty members served as contributing authors for the
Steve Karageanes book, “Principles of Manual Sports Medicine”,
including William Falls, Ph.D., Jennifer Gilmore, D.O., Sherman Gorbis, D.O.,
Jeffrey Kovan, D.O., Lawrence Prokop, D.O., and Michael Wieting, D.O.; as
well as several MSUCOM alumni.
- More than 150 faculty, staff, and friends joined the college for the annual
Holiday Open House on December 15. All enjoyed a festive lunch sponsored
by the Michigan Osteopathic College Foundation.
- Claud Young, D.O., has been reappointed by Governor Jennifer Granholm for
another term on the Michigan Osteopathic Medicine Advisory Board. In addition,
Governor Granholm appointed Lewin Wyatt, D.O., to his first term on the board.

of AOA category 1A credit.
- Thursday, May 5, 2005, 11:00 am, Class of 2005 Hooding and Commencement
Ceremony, Wharton Center.
