  • Congratulations to the following Health Programs faculty who received a promotion in rank from the university. Mari Douma, D.O., to the rank of Associate Professor, Department of Pediatrics; Eric Eggenberger, D.O., to the rank of Professor, Department of Neurology and Ophthalmology; and Michael Wieting, D.O., to the rank of Professor, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
  • The block of MSUCOM tickets for the MSU vs. Notre Dame football game during Silverfest weekend is SOLD OUT! Tickets still remain for Friday evening's dinner/dance at the University Club, and space continues to be available for the Osteopathic Open Golf Outing at Hawk Hollow on Friday, September 17.
  • The American Orthopedic Sports Medicine Society presented the prestigious Cabaud Award for orthopedic research to a COM affiliated group. Congratulations to Jeremy O'Shea, MSUCOM Class of 2006; Herbert Ross, D.O., Associate Professor of Osteopathic Surgical Specialties; Matthew Crawford, D.O., Clinical Instructor of Osteopathic Surgical Specialties; Steve Arnoczky, D.V.M., Brinker Professor of Small Animal Clinical Science; and Cheryl Swenson, D.V.M., Associate Professor of Pathology and Diagnostic Investigations.
  • The annual Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) Forum was held on Friday, July 23, at the Kellogg Center. MSTP students enrolled in the dual-degree program provided presentations on their research projects.
  • The Assessment Center Clinical Performance Exam was pilot tested with ninety-six members of the Class of 2005 on July 28-30.
  • The annual Sigma Sigma Phi Initiation Ceremony was held on Tuesday, July 13, at the Lansing Sheraton.
  • MSUCOM welcomed students and administrators from the Medical Trainer College of Tokyo, Japan. Students receive training in osteopathic principles and practice during their two-week course.
  • Special appreciation is extended to the sponsors of the 2004 Silverfest weekend: Fifth Third Bank (Tailgate Sponsor); Ingham Regional Medical Center (Dinner/Dance Sponsor); Metropolitan Hospital (Osteopathic Open Sponsor); Michigan Osteopathic Association (Entertainment Sponsor); and the MSU Federal Credit Union (Registration Sponsor).
