  • The Osteopathic Heritage Foundation (Rick Vincent), Columbus, Ohio, has established a $1.5 million endowment with MSUCOM to support the appointment of the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation Endowed Chair in Osteopathic Medicine. The selected candidate will serve as the co-director of the MSUCOM Center for Neuromusculoskeletal Research.

  • NOTICE OF TIME CHANGE! The MSU vs. Notre Dame football game scheduled for Saturday, September 18, will begin at 7:00 PM. As part of the Silverfest weekend, the pre-game tailgate will now begin at 4:00 PM. The Silverfest registration brochures which were mailed last week do not reflect these time changes, but we ask that you make note and update your information.

  • Congratulations to the following faculty on their promotion in rank within the university system. Leslie Kuhn, Ph.D., to the rank of Professor, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; and Deborah Wagenaar, D.O., to the rank of Associate Professor with the award of tenure, Department of Psychiatry.

  • MSUCOM welcomes Christopher Surian as our new Director of Development. Chris can be reached at 517-355-8355 or surianc@msu.edu.

  • Darrell L. Grace, D.O., MSUCOM Class of 1992, will be recognized by Michigan State University as a recipient of the "Michigan State University Alumni Service Award". Dr. Grace will receive her award during the homecoming festivities on October 14.

  • Thomas Mohr, D.O., Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, and Darryll Patterson, M.D., Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, received the "Best Teaching Award" from Ingham Regional Medical Center. This is the second year in a row that both Drs. Mohr and Patterson have been recognized with this prestigious award.

  • MSUCOM hosted the 2004 Awards Ceremony on June 16. Scholarship and award recipients from the 2003-2004 academic year were recognized.

  • John Goudreau, D.O., Ph.D., MSUCOM Class of 1995, and Assistant Professor, Departments of Neurology and Ophthalmology, and Pharmacology and Toxicology, was awarded a $50,000 research grant from Pfizer for a study entitled, "Neuroprotective effects of sildenfil citrate (Viagra) in an animal model of Parkinson's disease".

  • Raymond Cole, D.O., Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, received a First Place Award for Best Practice Solution from Medical Economics for his paper, "Buying a Densitometer: Frequently Asked Questions Answered", which was published in the April issue of Medical Economics.

  • The college hosted the AOA Health Policy Fellows for a program on "Politics and Policy" on June 4-6. This year the Fellows included four alumni from MSUCOM.

  • MSUCOM had a Dean's administrative representative present at all SCS hospital intern/resident graduation ceremonies during the month of June.

  • On June 24 MSUCOM hosted a noontime program entitled "Beyond Disability: Optimizing the Physician/Client Experience". This program was the fourth in a series of diversity programs funded through a grant from MSU.
