MSUCOM has been ranked 4th in the country for primary care by U.S.News & World
Report. In addition, the college continues to be ranked 1st among
osteopathic medical colleges for primary care.

Mary Anderson, MSUCOM Office of Student Services, has been selected by
MSU as a recipient of the 2003 Jack Breslin Distinguished Staff Award.

Congratulations to the new Student Council E-Board members: President
Mike Brennan; Vice-President Kelly Condon; Treasurer Jorrie Bodogne; Secretary
Angela Lim.

The college completed its yearlong Self Study in preparation for the AOA
seven-year accreditation site visit. The accreditation site visit is scheduled
for September 15-18, 2003.

The Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, Human Medicine, and Veterinary Medicine
co-sponsored a presentation on April 11 by Rosa Guerrero titled, "Our Multicultural
Tapestry". Ms. Guerrero spoke on the Hispanic/Latino culture in commemoration
of Cinco De Mayo. This presentation was part of the COM Diversity Education
series.

The 2003 Graduation Dinner and Awards Ceremony was held April 30 at the
Sheraton. Students, families, faculty, and staff attended the event to
celebrate the graduation of the Class of 2003 and the special award recipients.

Dean Strampel, college donors, and alumni attended the MSU Automotive
Event The Campaign for MSU at the Detroit Marriott Pontiac at Centerpoint.
CEOs from all three major automakers attended the fundraising event in
support of MSU.

Congratulations to Margaret Knapp, M.D., on her appointment as Associate
Dean of Clinical Affairs for the College of Osteopathic Medicine and the
College of Human Medicine. Dr. Knapp also serves as the Chief Operating
Officer of the MSU HealthTeam.
- Special appreciation is expressed by MSUCOM to Metropolitan Hospital in
Grand Rapids for their sponsorship support of the 2004 Visiting Minority
Faculty Lecture Series Slavery to Freedom.
