  • Michigan State University kicked off "The Campaign for MSU" on Friday, September 20. The university's fundraising goal for this campaign is $1.2 billion. As part of the kickoff weekend festivities, MSUCOM hosted a meeting of the Campaign Advisory Committee, participated in the Inaugural Celebration Ceremony, Inaugural Dinner, President's Pre-game Brunch, and hosted several individuals for the MSU vs. Notre Dame football game.

  • The annual Osteopathic Open golf outing was held on Wednesday, September 25, at the new Forest Akers West. Thirty-two foursomes, twenty-four of which were corporately sponsored, joined members of the college to raise funds for the student emergency loan fund, scholarships, and alumni programs. It is estimated that the event generated nearly $20,000 in net proceeds. Special appreciation is expressed to Metropolitan Hospital for serving as our Event Sponsor.

  • Silverfest, which celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Class of 1977, was held on September 27-28. The Friday evening dinner dance was enjoyed by alumni, faculty, staff, and students, with dancing to the ever popular Teen Angels. Special thanks to Ingham Regional Medical Center for serving as the Dinner Dance Sponsor, the Michigan Osteopathic Association for joining us as the Entertainment Sponsor, and the MSU Federal Credit Union for returning as the Registration Sponsor for this event. Saturday morning festivities included a CME Program, pre-game Tailgate, and the MSU vs. Northwestern football game. The college is grateful for the continued support of Fifth Third Bank as our Tailgate Sponsor.

  • The MSU Department of Radiology hosted a symposium on September 6, entitled "Celebrating the Synergy between Industry and Academia." The inaugural event celebrates the spirit of cooperation between the industrial and medical complexes that have led to revolutionary advances in diagnostic imaging.

  • Dean Strampel provided an update on the college at the Fall Semester Faculty Assembly, which was held on Monday, September 23. Topics of discussion included the budget, research, faculty evaluation, and development efforts.

  • MSUCOM welcomes Sharon Snyder as the new Development Director for the college. Ms. Snyder previously served as the Senior Development Officer for the Wayne State University College of Business.

  • Jose J. Zayas, D.O., P.A., MSUCOM Class of 1997, has been designated as a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

  • The search process for a Senior Associate Dean for MSUCOM is underway. Interested candidates, or individuals who wish to nominate a potential candidate, may contact Ms. Kimberly Betts at bettski@msu.edu for a position description.
