  • Over 200 faculty, staff, university and community affiliates attended the congratulatory reception for Dean William Strampel, DO, at the University Club on June 17. Presentations to Dean Strampel were made by  President Peter McPherson and Provost Lou Anna Simon on behalf of MSU; Mel Larsen on behalf of the governor-appointed Michigan Osteopathic Medicine Advisory Board; Senator Dianne Byrum and Representative Gretchen Whitmer on behalf of the state legislature; William Anderson, DO, on behalf of the Statewide Campus System Governing Board; Carol Monson, DO, on behalf of the Michigan Osteopathic Association; Dennis Paradis on behalf of the Michigan Osteopathic College Foundation; and Colleen Kniffen, who also served as  emcee, on behalf of MSUCOM. Dean Strampel extends a special thank you to  everyone who was able to join us. Special appreciation is also expressed  to the Office of the Dean staff, Colleen Kniffen, Kimberly Betts, Ashley  Parsons, and Katie Mikula for overall event planning and coordination

  • On June 12, MSUCOM held the Seventh Annual Awards Ceremony. The ceremony celebrated the excellence and many accomplishments of our faculty, staff, and students. Over 31 scholarships were given and nine college awards presented. Congratulations to all recipients and nominees.

  • A Dean's representative from MSUCOM was present at all 2002 SCS hospital graduation ceremonies during the month of June. William Strampel, DO, Colleen Kniffen, Mark Notman, PhD, Jon Rohrer, PhD, DMin, Mark Cummings, PhD, Gail Riegle, PhD, Oliver Hayes, DO, and David Kaufman, DO, represented the college at 16 ceremonies across the Statewide Campus System.

  • Planning continues for Silverfest 2002, which is scheduled for September 25-28. Special appreciation is extended to the event sponsors: Metropolitan Hospital (Osteopathic Open), MSU Federal Credit Union (Registration), Michigan Osteopathic Association (Entertainment), Ingham Regional Medical Center (Dinner/Dance), and Fifth Third Bank (Tailgate).

  • MSUCOM also recognizes the following package sponsors of Silverfest 2002 - Platinum Plus Sponsor: MSU Radiology; Platinum Sponsor: MSU Internal Medicine; Silver Sponsors: Noble Kheder and Associates, and St. John Health System; and Corporate Foursome Sponsors for the Osteopathic Open Genesys Regional Medical Center, Ingham Regional Medical Center, Michigan Osteopathic Association, MSU College of Human Medicine, and St. John Detroit Riverview.

  • Space is still available for corporate foursomes for the Osteopathic Open golf outing on September 25 as well as table sponsors for the Silverfest Dinner/Dance on September 27.   • Dean Strampel hosted a Dean's Forum on June 20. The forum provides an opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to discuss various issues with the Dean on an informal and open basis.
