May 16, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SHELLEY WIETING AWARDED MICHIGAN OSTEOPATHIC ASSOCIATION PRESIDENTIAL CITATION Dearborn, Michigan— Shelley Wieting, R.N., M.S., CRRN, of Holt, received a Presidential Citation from the Michigan Osteopathic Association (MOA) in recognition of her many years of service to the osteopathic profession both at the state and national level. She received the citation at the MOA House of Delegates meeting on May 9, held in conjunction with the MOA’s 108th Annual Postgraduate Convention and Scientific Seminar at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, Michigan. “The MOA wanted to acknowledge and thank Ms. Wieting for her active role in promoting and supporting the osteopathic profession. She has served as president and on the boards of her county, state and national osteopathic advocates groups and has worked tirelessly to educate patients and the public at-large about healthy living and the benefits of osteopathic medicine,” said John Bodell, D.O., 2006\2007 MOA President. “This MOA Presidential Citation is formal recognition of her commitment to the osteopathic profession and our appreciation of her work.” “It has been both enjoyable and rewarding to serve the osteopathic profession as an advocate; and truly an honor to have that service recognized with this citation,” Ms. Wieting said. Ms. Wieting holds a nursing degree as well as a graduate degree as a clinical specialist and is married to Michael Wieting, D.O. She has held many osteopathic advocate leadership roles including her service as the president of the Ingham County Advocates, the Advocates to the Michigan Osteopathic Association and was the 2005 president of the Advocates for the American Osteopathic Association. In addition, Ms. Wieting has served on several MOA committees and as an MOA representative on the Michigan Center for Nursing Advisory Board. The Michigan Osteopathic Association represents more than 7,000 osteopathic physicians and students and promotes osteopathic medicine in Michigan by shaping the health care delivery system to better serve the community.
