LaBaere NAMED PHYSICIAN OF THE YEAR BY MICHIGAN ASSOCIATION OF OSTEOPATHIC FAMILY PHYSICIANS

            Okemos, Michigan— Richard LaBaere II, D.O., was named the 2007 Family Physician of the Year by the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians, Inc. (MAOFP) on July 28, 2007.  The award is given each year at the annual MAOFP Summer Family Medicine Update to recognize an osteopathic physician who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to promoting osteopathic family medicine in the state of Michigan.

            Dr. LaBaere is a 1990 graduate of the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.  He is board certified in family medicine and actively practices in Burton, Michigan..  Dr. LaBaere is the Director of Medical Education at Genesys Regional Medical Center and faculty for the family medicine residency program.

            Dr. LaBaere serves as a Rotation Preceptor at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Regional Assistant Dean for the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.  His dedication to osteopathic medicine and medical education is extremely evident.

            Dr. LaBaere has received recognition by his employers and community by receiving the   “Above and Beyond Award” at A.T. Still University in Kirksville in 2004 and the General Practitioner of the Year Award at Genesys Regional Medical Center Flint Osteopathic Campus in 1996.  He was also honored as the “Working Person of the Week” for the Flint area Channel 25 station in 2001.  He lives in Ortonville, Michigan with his wife Cathy, daughter Amanda and son Mathew.

            The Michigan Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians, Inc. is a non-profit association whose mission is to advance the standards of family practice in the field of osteopathic medicine and surgery in the state of Michigan.  The MAOFP works to encourage and improve educational opportunities for the training of family physicians and to promote and maintain the highest moral and ethical standards in the practice of osteopathic medicine.
