October ?, 2000
Philip E. Greenman, senior associate dean of the college
emeritus and recipient of MSUCOM’s Walter F. Patenge Medal of Public
Service, was awarded the A.T. Still Medallion of Honor at the AAO’s
2000 Convocation. The award recognizes Dr. Greenman’s assiduous dedication
to the osteopathic profession and his reputation worldwide as a researcher,
clinician, and educator.During his tenure at MSUCOM, Dr. Greenman served
as associate dean and professor of both OMM and physical medicine and rehabilitation.
He also was charter chairperson of the Department of Biomechanics. In the
face of these administrative commitments, he nevertheless found time to
publish over 200 papers, four books, and 11 educational modules. He has
served as an editorial advisor to ten professional journals and has consulted
for numerous government and private organizations.Last year, Dr. Greenman
and his wife Patricia made a $2 million gift to MSUCOM to help further research
activities that are uniquely osteopathic in focus. They did so, Dr. Greenman
suggested in an interview with Health Care Weekly Review (Jan 20,
1999) with an eye toward "impacting the whole profession nationally."
MSUCOM joins the AAO in thanking Dr. Greenman for so deeply enriching the
osteopathic profession.
