EVERETT AWARDED MICHIGAN OSTEOPATHIC ASSOCIATION PRESIDENTIAL CITATION

Dearborn, Michigan— John K. Everett, D.O., of Indian River, received a Presidential Citation from the Michigan Osteopathic Association (MOA) in recognition of his service as chair of the MOA’s newly established Emergency Preparedness Task Force.  He received the award at the MOA House of Delegates meeting on May 9, held in conjunction with the MOA’s 108TH Annual Postgraduate Convention and Scientific Seminar at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, Michigan.

“I wanted to acknowledge and thank Dr. Everett for heading up the MOA’s newly established Emergency Preparedness Task Force under my presidency.  He gave of his time and his leadership to a project that is near and dear to both of us,” said John Bodell, D.O., 2006\2007 MOA President.  “Dr. Everett has participated in several medical missions; provided medical care and relief to victims of Hurricane Katrina; and served as a member of the AOA Committee on Recovery From Disasters.  His work with the MOA Emergency Preparedness Task Force was a natural fit.  This MOA Presidential Citation is formal recognition of his commitment to the osteopathic profession and to helping others in need.”

Dr. Everett, a 1976 graduate of the St. Joseph School of Radiology, received a bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University in 1983, and a Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1987.  He is a board certified family practitioner.  Currently, he practices in Indian River and is on staff at Community Memorial Hospital in Cheboygan.

Dr. Everett joined the MOA Board of Trustees in 1998 and served as the MOA president in 2003.  During his tenure on the board he served as chairman of several MOA Departments including the Continuing Education Department, Membership Department and the Judiciary and Ethics Department.  In addition, he is a former member of the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians Board of Directors and has served as an MOA delegate to the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) House of Delegates.

The Michigan Osteopathic Association represents more than 7,000 osteopathic physicians and students and promotes osteopathic medicine in Michigan by shaping the health care delivery system to better serve the community.  To learn more about the MOA and osteopathic medicine, visit the MOA website at www.mi-osteopathic.org.
