EAST LANSING -- A high-tech laboratory for
the teaching of high-touch medicine will be dedicated at the Michigan State
University College of Osteopathic
Medicine. All are invited to the ceremony from 3 to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, September
20, in E106 Fee Hall.
The Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Laboratory
is funded by a $115,000 gift from Jason and Danica Woolley in appreciation
of the "compassion
and professional care" of Lynn Brumm, D.O., professor emeritus of family
and community medicine at MSUCOM. Mr. Woolley, a former star hockey player
for the Spartans, is a member of the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey
League.
The facility includes a number of improvements for the teaching
of osteopathic manual medicine, including excellent sight lines, underfloor
wiring, electronic treatment tables, Internet access, and the ability to
project digital slides, video and audio. The laboratory can also be used
as a videoconferencing center for teaching manual medicine to students and
physicians in other locations.
MSU Athletic Director Ron Mason, will be
on hand for the ceremony, which will also include the dedication of a special
plaque. Demonstrations
will also be
available in the laboratory, and light refreshments will be served.
Everyone is encouraged to join us as we honor Dr. Brumm and his many years
of service to the profession.
