Donald
J. Sefcik, D.O., has been appointed the new senior associate dean at the Michigan
State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and will begin his new duties
on December 1. His
appointment was approved by the MSU Board of Trustees at its October meeting.
Most recently associate dean at the Chicago College of
Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University, Dr. Sefcik also served as its
assistant dean for clinical sciences and chairperson of the family medicine
department.
A 1985 graduate of CCOM, Dr. Sefcik
holds the B.S. in pharmacy and M.S. in pharmacology from Butler University,
and the M.B.A. from Purdue University. He completed his rotating internship
at Westview Hospital in Indianapolis, and his emergency medicine residency
at Chicago Osteopathic Hospitals and Medical Centers. He has maintained active clinical practices
and has been involved in the education of pharmacy, nursing, physician’s
assistant and osteopathic medical students. He is board-certified in
both family practice and emergency medicine. Active in a large number
of professional organizations and committees, Dr. Sefcik has received numerous
awards for his teaching.
