Michigan Legislature Recognizes College as Top 10 in U.S. May 17, 2000

The Michigan legislature and governor have joined in congratulating MSUCOM as Top 10 in the U.S. for primary care by the US News and World Report's annual educational assessment. The resolution commemorating this event is below.
Special Tribute Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine
LET IT BE KNOWN, That it is a pleasure and a privilege to honor the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University for its outstanding commitment to excellence in the field of medicine. We commend the College of Osteopathic Medicine for its past accomplishments and extend our best wishes for its continued success. The College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University is dedicated to providing students with high quality pre- and post- doctoral osteopathic medical education. Founded by a Public Act in 1969, the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine specializes in preparing students to fill the demand for primary care physicians for the people of Michigan. Since becoming a part of MSU, the College of Osteopathic Medicine has been ranked among the top ten medical schools in the United States for primary care education, a recognition rarely matched by any other school. Throughout its history, the college has educated and trained hundreds of primary care practitioners that have gone on to serve patients not just in Michigan, but all around the world. In addition to educating its own students, the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine continually works at bringing major osteopathic institutions together throughout the state of Michigan. On many occasions college administrators and faculty members have lead seminars, planned conventions and taught courses that have utilized the resources and expertise of doctors across the state. Clearly, The College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University is a wonderful program that deserves emulation. The College’s deep concern for the betterment of our community and its striving to facilitate accomplishment and success in the lives of students, teachers, patients, and others have impressed all who know the college. IN SPECIAL TRIBUTE, Therefore, This document is signed and dedicated to commend the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine for its dedication towards furthering the medical profession. Its ability to train and educate the doctors of tomorrow is worthy of our recognition and highest accreditation. May the college continue to excel in its future endeavors.
