Debra
Kontny, DO, a 1989 MSUCOM graduate from Williamston, became a fellow of the
American College of Surgeons at their 85th annual Clinical Congress held
in San Francisco, California. The American College of Surgeons, founded in
1913, is the largest professional organization of surgeons worldwide. It
was established to improve surgical practice and patient care through progress
in science and education.
After graduating from MSUCOM, Dr. Kontny went on to receive
certification from the American Board of Surgeons in 1996. She is a member
of several other professional societies, including the Association of Women
Surgeons and the Society of Laparo-endoscopic Surgeons. Dr. Kontny currently
practices at the Raymond W. Bliss Army Health Center, located in Fort Huachuca,
Arizona, where her work primarily focuses on general and laparoscopic surgery.
