Governor Jennifer Granholm announced Wednesday the first
appointees to the new Health Information Technology Commission, charged with
creating a statewide electronic medical records system.
Gregory Forzley of Grand Rapids,
medical director of informatics at Saint Mary’s Health System, will
represent doctors of medicine; Ganesh Reddy of Okemos, director of business
development at HTC Global Services Incorporated, will represent consumers;
and Thomas Stevenson of Alto, associate professor and associate clinical
medical manager with the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic
Medicine, will represent doctors of osteopathic medicine and surgery,
all for terms expiring August 3, 2007.
Robert McDonough of Three Rivers, director of global
public policy management at Pfizer, will represent pharmaceutical manufacturers;
Community Health Janet Olszewski of Williamston will represent the department;
and Information Technology Teri Takai of Troy will represent the department,
all for terms expiring August 3, 2008.
Toshiki Masaki of Canton, public policy manager at Ford
Motor Company, will represent purchasers and employers; Mark Notman of East
Lansing, chief technical officer with the Michigan State University College
of Osteopathic Medicine, will represent schools of medicine in Michigan; and
Jeanne Strickland of Brighton, chief compliance officer with the University
of Michigan Health System, will represent hospitals, all for terms expiring
August 3, 2009.
Robin Cole of Detroit, COO of Pro Care Health Plan Incorporated,
will represent health plans and other third party payers; Joseph Hohner of
Canton, vice president and chief information officer at Blue Cross Blue Shield
of Michigan, will represent nonprofit health care corporations; Robert Paul
of Novi, president of Compuware, will represent members of the health information
technology field; and Larry Wagenknecht of Haslett, CEO of the Michigan Pharmacists
Association, will represent pharmacists, all for terms expiring August 3,
2010.
