FCM Looking for New Preceptors

by Craig Reed

Feb 28, 2006

The Department of Family and Community Medicine has announced that it is looking for new preceptors to work with second-year students.

Graduates from Family Practice are encouraged to become involved with the second-year students who have shown an interest in the field. One focus which will be encouraged is for the students to work with patients with chronic illness, such as diabetes, to help them understand how to manage such illnesses throughout a patient's life.

Due to a recent retirement of several long-time preceptors, several openings are available which includes committing to every Friday or during one of the student's vacation breaks. This is a great opportunity to work with students and share with them the experience of being a family physician.

For more information on becoming a preceptor, please contact Dr. Carol Monson
