Two
members of the MSU community came to Fee Hall on June 26 to discuss the issue
of gender with MSUCOM students. Dr. Jayne Schuiteman, Women's Resource Center
and Interim Director for Women's Studies Program and Brent Bilodeau, assistant
for LBGT Concerns, Multicultural Development,
Office of VP for Student Affairs and Services, spoke with students, staff
and faculty about topics including gender identity and sexual orientation.
They also offered advice to the students about strategies for dealing with
these issues in their medical practice.
The lunchtime lecture was part of the Diversity Education Series, which has
brought several speakers to MSUCOM to give presentation related to diversity
in the community and the world of medicine. The program which began earlier
this year, has been a big success and the college has plans to continue the
series in the fall.
