Services Provided:

Speech

q       Language Pathologists provide therapy to improve communication skills in the areas of speech, language, cognitive abilities, and voice usage. Services include evaluation and treatment across a variety of areas.

Voice

q       Treatment of voice disorders including hoarseness or poor vocal quality, vocal fold paralysis, or resonance disorders.

TBI

q       Treatment for those with social communication problems, cognitive deficits, difficulty with written communication, comprehension of spoken language, and difficulties with attention and information processing.

CVA

q       Treatment of aphasia (difficulty comprehending or formulating language), dysarthria (speech problem caused by neuro-motor weakness), apraxia (speech problem caused by imprecise motor planning in the speech musculature), and dysphagia (swallowing disorders).

Larengectomy

q       Voice restoration post laryngectomy through electrolarynx training and tracheoesophageal prostheses fitting.

Childhood Speech and Language Disorders

q       Assessment of speech (articulation), language and fluency.

 

Our Team:

MSU Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic has a dynamic and well-trained staff to meet patient’s needs. The Speech Pathology staff is part of an interdisciplinary team of specialists at the clinic, including Physiatrists (physician’s board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation), Psychologists, and Physical Therapists.  Our staff is also a part of the MSU Health Team, enabling communication and referral options with a large variety of health care specialists.
