Vision and Mission Statement

The mission of the Department of Osteopathic Surgical Specialties is to develop educational, research, and clinical expertise of the highest quality in the field of surgery and in its subspecialties. More »

Welcome to the Department of Osteopathic Surgical Specialties at Michigan State University. The department includes full-time, part-time and clinical faculty who contribute towards education, research, and clinical aspects of the surgical specialty. These include the divisions of Anesthesiology, General Surgery, General Vascular Surgery, Neurological Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology (clinical and surgical), Orthopedic Research, Orthopedic Surgery (including Spinal Reconstruction), Otolaryngology, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Thoracic Surgery (including Cardiological), and Urological Surgery (including Oncological Urological Surgery).

The Department of Osteopathic Surgical Specialties trains osteopathic students for the practice of medicine and surgery by helping develop the college curriculum through the organization of classroom, hospital, clinic, and specialty programs that will provide the highest quality education and role modeling.

The Department of Osteopathic Surgical Specialties is committed to developing and assisting in quality research programs, as well as in community health services and continuing educational programs that will serve the profession, the medical community at large, and the public to improve the quality of health services for all Michigan citizens.
