Year-End 2008 Cut-Off Procedures (April 2008)

COM Administrative Services before these dates--please refer
to the Administrative
Services Master Calendar for these deadlines. Also, please remember
that forms requiring sign-off from more than one department/college will
require extra time.
FMLA
Law Update - Urgent! (March
18, 2008)
As of January 28, a Military Family Leave Act was implemented under the National Defense Authorization Act. Please review and post the NDAA notice immediately. NDAA includes:
- Military leave for a qualifying exigency-whereby an immediate military need has been declared-(clarity on the meaning of "exigency" is forthcoming)
- Military injury caregiver leave for 26 weeks
ANY requests for these types need to be directed to Alicia Bailey (bailey@hr.msu.edu), in Human Resource Records.
Also, new “proposed” FMLA regulations (separate from NDAA) were received on February 11, 2008. Click here for a complete listing of the new “proposed” FMLA regulations.
Comments and questions by employers will be taken by the Department of
Labor through April 11, 2008 on the new "proposed" regulations.
Once the “proposed” regulations have been finalized, HR will
notify the university community of any changes to our current policies
and procedures.

Accounting Newsletter (September 2007) - Click here for the September 2007 Accounting Newsletter from the Controller's Office, including information on the new object codes 079 (Administrative Fee) and 113 (Business Entertainment); upcoming Purchasing Card reviews and a summary of the rules for purchasing cards; and an update on the Administration Building drop box, which was vandalized and won't be in operation until sometime in October.
Non-Compete Clause (May 2007) - Please be advised that all faculty hired to provide clinical services must have a Non-Compete Clause linked to their appointment or reappointment. (e.g., in their offer letter, appointment paperwork, HP memorandum paperwork and/or Non-Compete Clause form provided by COM-Administrative Services).

MSU Security Report and Crime Statistics - The annual crime statistics information and security report is available at the following URL: http://www.msu.edu/dig/safety/. The report contains information on crime statistics, as well as MSU police and public safety resources, where and how to report a crime, and medical emergencies on campus. It includes information on crime prevention and victim support services as well as campus security. It also contains access to various MSU policies pertaining to campus security.
