On September 25, 144 golfers took on Forest Akers West Course for the 2002 Osteopathic Open. The event, sponsored by Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids, gave MSUCOM alumni, faculty, staff, students, as well as their friends and family, a chance to spend the day on the golf course and raise money for COM programs.

The tournament was a four-person scramble and prizes were awarded to winning teams in men's, women's and co-ed divisions. There were also awards for driving and putting contests and door prizes for the competitors.

The golfing was followed by a luncheon, which included raffle drawings and a silent auction that also helped to benefit the college. The proceeds from the day will help support student loan funds, educational improvements and the MSUCOM Alumni Association.
