East Lansing Physician Re-elected to the American Osteopathic Association Board of Trustees

(Chicago, IL)-Carol Monson, D.O., a board certified osteopathic family physician of East Lansing, Mich., was re-elected to the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Board of Trustees during its recent House of Delegates meeting in Chicago.

A fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, Dr. Monson is currently the acting chairperson of the family and community medicine department at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing. 

In addition to being a member of the American Osteopathic Association since 1980, Dr. Monson has served on the AOA Board of Trustees since 2003.  She is a past president of the Michigan Osteopathic Association, the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the Michigan Council on Graduate Medical Education and the Ingham County Osteopathic Association.  Dr. Monson also serves on the Steering Committee for the Council of Medical Specialties Conjoint Committee on Continuing Medical Education and is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the American Academy of Family Practice, the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, and the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.

After graduating from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Monson completed a rotating internship at Lansing (Mich.) General Hospital, now known as the Ingham Regional Medical Center.  In 1995, she fulfilled a faculty development fellowship at Michigan State University and in 1998 participated in the AOA's health policy fellowship program at the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens.
