Tell us your latest news today! Class of '90Stephen Bloom was appointed medical director of the Mild Brain Injury Program at the Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Center. (ca. 1999) Kelley Burnett is a pediatrician in Grants Pass, Ore. She moved there with her husband M. Crane from Virginia two years ago. Their daughter, Reilly Marie Crane, was born in June. (The couples first child, Chloe, was born prematurely in October, 1996, and died at 17 days of age.) (ca. 1999) Salvatore Cavaliere has been in private practice in Rochester for two years treating disorders of the ear, hearing and balance. After completing a fellowship in otology/neurotology, in Minneapolis, Minn., he became the second osteopathic physician in the country practicing that specialty. Dr. Cavaliere is also doing research at Wayne State University in hopes of improving medical and surgical outcomes for those with otologic disorders. (ca. 1999) Paul Kovack was part of a team who won first place at the MOA Scientific Research Exhibit Competition. (May 2008) Richard J. LaBaere II was nominated for AOA Mentor of the Year. Kari Leikert completed three years in the Air Force in Abilene, Texas, and is now in a partnership in Ludington. She had her fourth child while in the Air Force. (May 2008) Nancy Ann Meachum Provan completed a family practice residency in June 1997, and won the 1997-98 Bristol-Myers Squibb Outstanding Resident Award. Her son, Alexander Patrick Provan was born August 11, 1997, and she has taken a sabbatical from medical practice to be a full time mom. "I love my new job and look forward to part-time medical practice in the future. Alex will become a big brother next year!" (ca. 1999) Denise Murphy Stadelmaier joined Atlas Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Indianapolis, Ind. in June 1998 after completing a one year fellowship in sports medicine at Baylor in Houston, Texas. Denise and her husband Joe have three daughters, Rachel, Shauna and Murphy. (ca. 1999) Trinh D. Nguyen is practicing at a clinic for low income and uninsured people at 1100 W. Saginaw in Lansing. (May 2008) Gary Michael Rooker relocated with his wife Nancy Johnson-Rooker, RN, and children Melissa, 11, and Shane 10, from Michigan to Virginia in April 1998. Dr. Rooker started a private practice in Roanoke and Christiansburg, Va. (ca. 1999) Dan Sheeley has two children, Jonathan Michael Sheeley, 2, and Noah Reed Sheeley, 3 months old. He has been the team physician for the Michigan K-Wings IHL Hockey team for the past seven years, and gets to travel quite a bit with them. He has been married five years to Krysten. (ca. 1999) Keith Blum is a pediatric neurosurgery fellow at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, the University Hospital of Albert Einstein Medical College. He has published in Pediatric Neurosurgery and made presentations around the country and in England. Dr. Blums awards include the Resident Achievement Award from the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. He lives in Manhattan. (ca. 1999) Lucy Coccimiglio joined Oakland County Urologists, P.C. She lives in Waterford. (ca. 1999) William Cosgrove started his current anesthesia job two years ago. He moved from Chicago to Detroit after getting married. (ca. 1999) Laura Hershkowitz completed a fellowship in epilepsy/neurophysiology at Rush Presbyterian St. Lukes Medical Center in Chicago and stayed as a junior faculty/instructor at Rush Epilepsy Center. While there she performed epilepsy surgery and epilepsy monitoring. Each day she sees about 30 to 40 mostly Hispanic patients, many of whom are diabetic. He and his wife moved into a new home and they had their fourth child the same week he started his new job. Witt lives in Jackson, Mich. (ca. 1999) Thomas Watts is currently working at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, specializing in emergency medicine. He has passed both the written and oral board exams of American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine, as well as the written portion of the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He also works as medical director of the Aboite Township Fire Department and werves on the board of EMS for the local EMS medical control authority in Fort Wayne. Dr. Watts and his wife Maureen now have three children, Kristen, 6, Ryan, 4, and Megan, 2. He loves returning to MSU for football games. Christina Childress Daoud opened a solo practice in 1997 in Coldwater, where she is the only board-certified family practitioner in the city. She gave birth to her second daughter in 1998. (ca. 1999) Tressa Gardner was appointed as a delegate to the AOA. (May 2008) Brian Goldstein will begin a two-year neuroradiology fellowship at Georgetown University Hospital in July 1999. An "interesting nuclear medicine case" which he reported to the journal, Clinical Nuclear Medicine, will be published in 1999. (ca. 1999) Julie Burnham Hice joined Richard Kovar, DO, in Port Huron to practice adult neurology. She will be on staff at Port Huron General Hospital, Mercy General Hospital and Riverdistrict Hospital in St. Clair. He completed a six month deployment with the marines in Anbar Province Iraq as a member of a forward resuscitative surgical system (FRSS).
