MSUCOM fourth-year
students completed their transition from medical student to MSUCOM alumni
on Thursday, May 1 with the 2008 Hooding and Commencement ceremony. Loved
ones of the students with faculty and staff listened to the wise words
of Dr. Peter Ajluni who gave this years commencement address.
During Commencement, four students were recognized with the following awards:
Richard Bryce
Established in memory of Richard L. Alper, who died in a tragic plane crash
in 1975 shortly before his graduation. Presented to a graduating MSUCOM
student for distinguished service to the community.
Jamie Chionini
Established in memory of Judith K. Weiswasser, who died in a tragic plane crash
in 1975, shortly before her graduation. This award recognizes a woman graduate
deemed to be outstanding academically, professionally, and personally.
Todd Galdes
Presented to a graduate who demonstrates leadership and advocacy for the college
and the osteopathic profession, and exemplifies the best professional qualities
of an osteopathic physician.
Heather Scheper
Given to a student in good academic standing who is actively involved in the
MOA, AOA, SOMA or Student Council, and who has made significant extracurricular
